Spotlight - John Studd
'Big' John Studd would debut at MLG in 1979. The former 'Chuck O'Connor' and one half of 'The Executioners' (with Killer Kowalski) would leave his mark on MLW with some good feuds with Blackjack Mulligan and Andre The Giant, and a short run with the Canadian Heavyweight Title in 1981
Studd would beat Angelo Mosca for the Canadian Title in September 1981 but only manage a short run with the belt. He would make title defenses against Mosca and 'Bad' Leroy Brown before Mosca regained the belt in Jan 1982.
In 1982 Studd would expand his feud with Blackjack Mulligan to include Mulligans son Blackjack Jr. (Barry Windham). Studd and The Mulligans had been feuding in other cities around the wrestling world and brought the same angle into Toronto. Jr would come to his fathers aid and on the next card Papa Mulligan would return the favour and rescue Jr from Studd's wrath.
Studd would also continue his on-going feud with Andre The Giant with a couple of memorable bouts at MLG. He would prove to be at his best versus the big men of the sport and appeared as a feasible challenger to the massive Andre
Studd would continue to appear in Toronto as part of the WWF in the mid 80's, sometimes teaming with his old NWA partner Ken Patera and would continue his feud with Andre. He would make his last appearance in 1986.
